La segunda posición fue para el brasileño Tony Kanaan, que mañana correrá su última carrera con el equipo KV Racing Technology. El Top 3 lo completo James Hinchcliffe, que corre para el equipo Andretti Autosport.
Compañero de equipo de Power, A. J. Allmendinger (Penske Racing), que este fin de semana está volviendo a la categoría para ayudar a Castroneves, tuvo un buen comienzo y el marcó el cuarto mejor tiempo y fue seguido por los dos pilotos que luchan por el campeonato de este año, Helio Castroneves (Penske Racing) y Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi Racing), líder del campeonato.
En este entrenamiento hubo dos fuertisimos accidentes. El primer tuvo como protagonista a la inglesa Pippa Mann, que este fin de semana está manejando el segundo auto del equipo Dale Coyne Racing. El segundo fue en los últimos minutos y el japones Takuma Sato, de A. J. Foyt Enterprises, perdió el control de su auto en la curva cuatro y terminó contra el muro. Los dos pilotos se encuentran bien.
El venezolano Ernesto José Viso no participara de la última fecha del año. Todavía no se sabe porque pero ya tiene un reemplazante y es el joven piloto colombiano Carlos Muñoz, que hará doblete este fin de semana porque también está corriendo en la categoría telonera, la Firestone Indy Lights. El piloto de la escuadra Andretti Autosport fue vigésimo cuarto. Saavedra último.
