Sin duda, Marco Andretti está en su mejor momento en la IndyCar Series, por lo que para él, el siguiente objetivo es simple: ser contendiente para el campeonato, algo impensable hace unos meses.
El norteamericano llega a Sao Paulo, sede de la cuarta carrera del calendario, en el cuarto lugar en el puntaje (a doce puntos de Helio Castroneves), tras subir al podio en St. Petersburg y finalizar séptimo tanto en Barber como en Long Beach, por lo que ha conformado su mejor inicio de campaña en toda su trayectoria. “Ésta solía ser mi parte más débil del calendario, estoy muy feliz por el trabajo que hemos hecho en pretemporada”, dijo el estadounidense en teleconferencia de prensa el día miércoles.
Para encarar Brasil, donde protagonizó un fuerte accidente hace tres años con Mario Moraes, Andretti busca un fin de semana sin problemas. “La clasificación será importante por los cambios hechos en las curvas 1 y 2, pero de ahí, será sólo dependerá de hacer un buen trabajo”, mencionó.
Finalmente, el integrante de la tercera generación de corredores de la familia italo-americana se siente más tranquilo que en 2012, en el cual tuvo su peor rendimiento en la categoría. “Obviamente es muy temprano en la temporada, pero me siento más confiado en el panorama para el resto de la misma. Es la primera vez en la que puedo decir en que me veo ganando el campeonato”, finalizó.
